Ageing opportunities

Ajka, Hungary

2015

We focused on the issues and opportunities inherent in ageing, with the support of international experts and team facilitators. The aim was to give long term solutions to keeping senior citizens economically and socially active with the help of design.

The challenge we worked on

In 2015 HOLIS was organised again by Design Terminal and was focusing on the issues and opportunities inherent in ageing, with the support of international experts and team leaders. The aim was to give long term solutions to keeping senior citizens economically and socially active with the help of design.

Topics like employment, mobility, living conditions, use of design and use of social amenities and public services were investigated. The target territory of the study was the Ajka and Herend area in Hungary, where we explored both location-specific and more general implications of the topic in cooperation with local administration and nonprofit organizations, as well as local creative industry businesses, the Herend Porcelain Factory and Ajka Crystal.

What are the results

A report was developed presenting the leading thinkers of the theme and the projects of HOLIS teams among a remarkable case study collection of design projects focused on challenges of ageing.
